HOW A SPECIAL GIFT BECAME A DREAM
Britt was born in Bethesda, Md and grew up in nearby Silver Spring, a suburb of Washington., D.C. Britt's parents split at an early age, and his childhood was not easy, "but it was fun." He took to performing at an early age and at the age of 5 had his first performance at a Christmas dinner at the Gospel mission his dad grew up in.
A dream was born.
Britt was a clown in his school days, was in all the plays, in bands, and choirs, and was writing music before he was 12. Britt decided to study music and went to the University of Miami (Fla)on a scholarship. He didn't forget theatre though and studied that as well. By the time he finished in schooling, he became disillusioned with all the politics and expectations of show biz and how they were affecting his love of music and creativity.
Needing a break from showbiz, Britt came back home to Maryland, passing up several offers in Miami, and got a normal 9-5 job. Britt met a fellow musician, who introduced him to a church and a whole new way of looking at life and music-the dream awakened. God really blessed Britt when he got laid off of his comfy job, and lost his girlfriend in the same week. Britt couldn't ignore his gift any longer, and when he saw his mentor and friend Jon Secada on the Tonight Show he said to himself "That could be me". With another friend singing backup to Jon a new dedication was made.
The dream became a goal. Britt started writing/producing his own material. Spent every dime he had creating music. Got into a band started playing gigs, and everyone said "Why aren't you famous?" Some of his material got immediate airplay on local music programs, but he wanted more. He then also re-started his acting career and quickly had appearances at the Kennedy Center with Debbie Allen & Patti LaBelle, in films directed by John Waters starring Tracy Ullman and on TV in "America's Most Wanted". He has now performed with John Travolta, Telma Hopkins, Chris Izaak, Joaquin Phoenix, Johnny Gill, Jackee Harry, Chris Rock, LMFAO, Alyssa Milano and Bernie Mack, .
Britt created his own record label, production company and started making his dreams a reality. He is now also directing and writing his own screenplays and developing TV shows as well. His base is in Los Angeles though he is bi-coastal. He has just finished several features as well as other projects and is looking to produce some of these in the coming year.
The goal becoming a reality.
With support from family, friends and YOU, Britt's talent will shine.
