CHARMED He's Sure
Britt got another huge break with a co-starring role in the hit show CHARMED
on the WB. Yes, the show that has that hottie Alyssa Milano. He plays a
Parole Officer in the episode which also stars Ivan Sergei. "They initially
read me for a smaller role but liked me so much they cast me in the larger
role as parole officer-that is as great a compliment as they could give me."
It was shot on the same studio as "Ten Commandments" at Paramount. The Aaron
Spelling produced show will air in 2006.
MORE, MORE, MORE, COMMERCIALS
Britt just finished two commercials airing in the Los Angeles and San Diego
areas. The first is a zany musical parody commercial for HAMER TOYOTA, one of
the largest dealers in LA. Britt sings and dances his love for their service
to the Motown favorite?"My Guy". But listen close...It's not really him
singing! "They had me lip-sync the number because they had already recorded
the vocals in the studio-all my friends think its a riot." Also Britt did an
ad for SAN DIEGO COUNTY CREDIT UNION. It was filmed in San Diego. "My first
time in SD and I loved it. I stayed the weekend and saw the Chargers play
too-it was a blast." It was a great spot for him, showing his comedic flair.
It also will have billboards promoting the credit union as well. "If I end up
larger than life on a billboard", Britt cajoled,..."I'll laugh and then
faint-LOL."
NETWORK TV DEBUT
Britt will make his anticipated network debut in May on the zany daytime soap PASSIONS on NBC. Britt has a recurring role as Floyd, the bumbling security guard, on several episodes airing at the end of May. "Jackie, the casting director, had me hand picked for this role the minute it came across her desk," Britt said. "I read and she loved it and offered it to me on the spot. I wish they all came that easy. It was an incredible experience, quite different than film." Britt hopes to be on there again soon as they loved his work. PASSIONS airs weekdays on NBC, check local listings for time.
BRITT ON PRIMETIME
Britt appeared on an episode of the Michael Jackson Re-enactment Trial in April on the E! Network. Britt played the disgruntled former guard Ralph Chacon. "I dropped all the big bombs about Michael. Up to then the testimonies had been pretty tepid-NOT MINE. My Mom is so proud I said (forgive me Lord) 'penis' on national television-LOL." It airs 7:30 weeknights on E! Network.
COMMERCIALS
Britt has a few commercials airing regionally and nationally. He has a national commercial for AVO-CLASSIC Guacamole mainly showing on the Food Network. "That dip is the best store-bought guacamole I've ever had-really," Britt exclaimed. He has a regional commercial for VALLEY FAIR Amusement Park showing in the Northern US. The park is in Minnesota and owned by Knotts Berry Farm(CA) so hopefully they'll use the spot for Knotts in the future. Britt also has an ad running in the UK (England) for Ribena Fruit Drink. Keep your eyes peeled for more.
ANTHEM
Britt has had the awesome pleasure of singing our NATIONAL ANTHEM for the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers and Clippers in the past few months. "All were incredible," Britt beamed, "each has a special place in my heart." The Clippers loved him so much they invited him back for an encore at another game. He sang at Dodgers Stadium for the first ever meeting between the Dodgers and the new Washington Nationals. "That is my new home team," Britt explained, "so it was an extra special honor." The Nats won and Britt was elated, "I was really singing for them, no disrespect to the Dodgers. I like them too." Britt will keep singing, so keep listening. Root Beer Bandits at Garry Marshall's Falcon
Britt got a major break this summer in getting a lead in Root Beer
Bandits at the Falcon Theatre in Burbank. The theatre is owned by Garry Marshall
(Director of Pretty Woman, Runaway Bride, Raising Helen and producer of Happy Days,
Laverne & Shirley, Odd Couple). Penny Marshall is his sister. Britt plays a Zany
bandit "Zeke" in this wild west musical for kids-and adults too. "The cast is great
and the show is a riot", says Britt. "I have the funniest role in the show. It's like
Bugs Bunny, so kids and adults can get into it. Garry handpicked the cast with the
production team so I really feel thrilled to work here." The theatre is just a few
miles from all the major studios so you never know who will stumble in. Root Beer
Bandits runs weekend matinees all summer from 6/26 thru 9/5. Goto www.falcontheatre.com
for info/tickets.
A DIRTY SHAME
Britt got his biggest break to date in being cast as a PRINCIPLE
in the new John Waters ("Hairspray", "Pecker", among others) film "A Dirty Shame".
He was a Fat Boy, a perverted biker in a comedy that starred Tracey Ullman, Chris
Isaak, Johnny Knoxville(Jackass), and Selma Blair(Legally Blonde). "It was incredible",
Britt shared, "to watch and perform with such amazing talents." John Waters said Britt's
daily's (the days filming) looked great throughout the filming. The film will come out
in 2004 so look out for it.
BRITT ON STAGE AND SCREEN
Britt is not just a musician. Britt is also an accomplished
actor as well, having
done TV, film, and theatre. Most recently Britt has been involved in
a number of projects that will be huge in the near future.
Britt has a guest appearance on the new TV show "Cookin In Brooklyn" on the Discovery
Home & Leisure channel as a longshoreman, and as a wife-killer in one of the most popular
TV shows in Japan called "Astonishing News!". "The whole show was overdubbed in Japanese,"
Britt laughed. "I can't wait to see it." Britt worked w/ friend and fellow actor Dean Goldman
on the shoot, "We had a blast in a beautiful town in Connecticut. It's always more fun to play
the bad guys." Dean played the friend Britt's character hired to kill his wife.
Britt also worked for the producers of "America's Most Wanted" as a cop shot in the line of duty on the
award show "Top Cops 2003".
In film, Britt just finished a flick called "Soulmates" where he
plays a factory worker who cannot accept a coworkers sex change. Look out for these and more
in 2004!!!
Make sure you see Britt in his new film "Head of State" starring Chris Rock and Bernie Mac.
Britt's movin' and groovin' down the stairs in the ballroom scene (it's lol funny). Also, Britt
will be in the new movie Ladder 49 starring John Travolta and Jaoquin Phoenix later this year.
"John and all the guys were awesome," Britt recalled after the shoot.
Britt recently finished a production of "Tom Sawyer" the musical at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C..
Britt played 6, that's right 6, different characters in the unique adaptation of the Broadway musical. "It was a great cast - I loved every minute of it," said Britt on closing night. Britt recently joined "Equity", the union for theater actors and is very proud
of that distinction. "People just treat you differently in the biz when your Equity - they know you can do a great job and that your a pro."
Stay tuned for more updates.
Britt was a featured vocalist in a dance musical written & directed
by Debbie Allen entitled "Soul Possessed". An amazing spectacle
of dance & song, love & tragedy,
Britt was involved in the original performance at the Kennedy Center
in 1999, and Debbie took him on the road to Atlanta, GA in 2000. The
music was written by Allen, r&b great James Ingram, and jazz impresario
Arturo Sandoval (check the gallery for photos.
The show featured the likes of Patti Labelle, Desmond
Richardson(FOSSE), Natalie Belcon(RENT), Carmen de Lavallade(Alvin Ailey),
Miguel Angel, Chandra Currelley(SOS Band), Sharon Brown, Jason Samuels-Smith(Bring
Da Noise), and
many others. "It was an amazing experience, I can't wait to do
it again," Britt remembers, "and Debbie is the best. A total
dream to work with." Britt also did a workshop of a new musical
in NYC intitled "Mask" based on the movie that starred Cher.
The cast was a who's who of Broadway with Britt
being the only imported talent outside of the city. The play was written
by Anna Hamilton-Phelan and music by the hitmakers Barry Mann &
Cynthia Weil(Just Once, On Broadway and many other hits). "This
show will blow away everyone who sees it," Britt predicts, "
and I want to be along for the ride". People were crying and intermission?!
Powerful, the best true story
ever to come to Broadway, and some songs will be radio hits too."Keep
your eye out for Britt's next role.
